Assignment (Coursework) Managment

Blackboard v6 includes a new system for managing Assignments (i.e. courseworks). It is distinct from the Digital Drop Box which remains unchanged.

The basic process is that:

  • you upload a coursework file to a content area,
  • students download the coursework file from the content area,
  • students complete the coursework,
  • students return their assignments via the content area (which are stored in the online gradebook area),
  • you download the assignments from the online gradebook area (all at the one time if that suits),
  • you return the marked coursework to the students via the content area. You can add summary feedback comments at this stage it suits.

A record for each coursework returned is automatically added to the online gradebook. You can add the mark to the student record along with your own personal comments on the quality of the coursework. Your personal comments are not seen by the students. Your summary feedback comments to each student will also be added to the gradebook record.

This is similar to the process used for file exchange via the Digital Drop Box but it is much easier to use. Also integrating the coursework exchange conduit with the other learning resources provides the opportunity to reinforce the link between learning and assessment.

The following screen videos provide details of how your students and you would use the assignments option.
