Module Content
Any type of learning content can be easily placed together in any content area. This helps you construct a cohesive package of learning resources and support activities within a single folder that can include items, assessments, surveys, external links and internal module links.
The Control Panel has been extended and re-arranged to suit the new options available.
The new "quick edit - quick display" function makes it easy to toggle between content viewing and content editing. This is an alternative method of accessing Control Panel options when editing/adding resources to content areas. In addition to a reduction in mouse-clicks this new option also makes it easier to view the results of uploading resources to a content area, i.e. visually checking that your resources have been presented properly. The Control Panel can still be used as per past practice and must still be used to access other instructor-only management functions.
Another welcome improvement is the option of copying and/or moving resources within the module, eg moving a file to a different folder and/or other content area. This overcomes the pervious problem of having to delete an item and then upload again.
The text entry dialogue box now has a range of text formatting options that are similar to those found in major word processing applications. Additional options are available for adding maths/scientific notation as direct text input. Although these changes provide more opportunities for embellishing text input it also offers opportunities for presentation overkill.
Design restrictions at present mean that the majority of the advanced formatting options are, for the present, available only to those using an IBM type PC with an Internet Explorer browser. With the exception of the availability of the maths/scientific notation input options those using Mac PCs will see little difference in the textbox layout from that used in Bbv5.
